Instagram has a new head marketer.
Jake O’Leary has joined Instagram as global head of marketing, Meta confirmed to ADWEEK.
He will lead marketing for the Instagram app, Instagram’s creators, and Threads.
O’Leary’s purview has been covered by Eshan Ponnadurai, Meta’s VP and president of consumer marketing, who oversees marketing across multiple properties owned by Meta. O’Leary will report to Ponnadurai, who is part of Meta CMO Alex Schultz’s organization.
O’Leary joins Meta-owned Instagram as the platform has been heavily courting younger consumers.
Turning YouTube into a music giant
O’Leary joins from YouTube, where he was director and global head of marketing for YouTube Shorts, music and artists, and gen AI.
