Microsoft, OpenAI Giving News Outlets $10M to Use AI Tools

Microsoft and OpenAI announced that they are offering a select group of media outlets up to $10 million ($2.5 million in cash plus $2.5 million worth of “software and enterprise credits” from each) to try out artificial intelligence tools in the newsroom. (The Verge)

The program will initially fund projects for AI adoption at five independently owned U.S. metro news organizations—The Minnesota Star Tribune, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Chicago Sun-Times owner Chicago Public Media, The Seattle Times, and Newsday on Long Island, N.Y.
