Every sports league wants to build a stronger connection with its fans, but the NWSL helped get more people out to games than ever this year by having its partners at Google put them as close to the pitch as possible.

In February, Google and the National Women’s Soccer League announced a multi-year extension of their ongoing partnership. The deal not only made Google Pixel the league’s mobile phone sponsor and presenting sponsor for the playoffs and title game, but it also introduced the Pitchside with Pixel program that put an AI-powered smartphone camera in the hands of a content creator in each of the league’s 14 markets.
