Woolmark's Ad Is a Zombie Apocalypse Where the Enemy Is Synthetic Clothing

The Woolmark Company continues a global campaign highlighting the environmental impact of the fashion industry

ADWEEK House is headed to Las Vegas on January 8! Our house is your house to unwind, recharge and network during the industry’s largest consumer tech moment. RSVP.

Like a scene from any good zombie movie, only featuring clothes rather than the undead, countless disembodied garments invade a city, derailing traffic and sending people running for cover.

This apocalyptic ad comes from The Woolmark Company and carries an ominous message about the fashion industry’s environmental impact: synthetic clothing is haunting our planet.

Synthetic clothing, first introduced nearly 200 years ago, will account for an estimated 73% of total fiber production globally by 2030. And the average polyester product is likely to survive in landfills for more than 200 years, according to a 2021 report from the Changing Markets Foundation.

By highlighting this reality through a haunting film, The Woolmark Company continues a campaign that calls on consumers and the fashion and retail industries to reevaluate fiber choices.
