As tennis pros take to the courts during the US Open, Grindr—the dating app for gay, bisexual, trans, and queer people—is serving up a surprise. People who tap on a potential dating match can hear a grunt (a noise made by some tennis players while hitting their shots) instead of Grindr’s familiar notification sound.  

The grunt notification, available through the end of September, is meant to surprise and entertain users, while also highlighting that tennis “is such a popular sport for the gay community.
